Cable box probs. w/ Ilo & Scientific Atlan.(Brighthouse)

I love my Ilo, but it is not remote compatible with my large Florida cable company. I cannot adjust volume w/ cable company remote. Other remote functions are complicated. I am informed that programing an RCA remote for Funai brand tv works, but do not know if this applies to a box with DVR capability. I am investigating RCA RU810(b) remote. Any info. helpful as I am convinced that the Ilo tv is quality at a good price but I can't seem to use it as I expected
