How does the new 1.33GHz iBook compare to the 12" PowerBook?

by   lawman67 , top reviewer in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Aug 5, 2005
Pros: EXTREMELY affordable, full featured
Cons: Not as snazzy as the PowerBook, but $500 cheaper
The Bottom Line: Probably the best value in a laptop computer toda. Buy one!
Review: Last week Apple quietly upgraded the existing 12” iBook from 1.2GHz to 1.33 GHz while keeping the price the same. While on the surface this looks like a minor upgrade, like the PowerBooks back in late January, this is actually a significant feature ...

Pros: Scrolling trackpad, TigerOS X, iLife, ATI9550gfx , 512 MB RAM, 40HD space, Bluetooth, great value.
Cons: Zero- consumer level. Professional level---speed. DVI connections. No superdrive(DVD burner) for this model.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this computer on it's value to the customer. I think it'll offer many years of service and will fit their needs.
Review: Apple has given us a fine laptop with many features that are needed for almost every user. This iBook boasts a 1.33Ghz PPC processor for maximum speed. This is the fastest processor Apple has ever endowed on this 12" iBook. Apple beefed up this iBook ...

The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a simple to use computer that you can depend on and trust, then buy an iBook G4. I'm confident that you won't regret it.
Review: UPDATE: I took the computer to my local Apple Dealer to present my keyboard issue. They ordered in a new keyboard. It arrived within three days. The dealer installed this new keyboard and the space bar issue has been resolved perfectly. Based on the ...

Pros: Loooong battery life, brilliant OS, speedy, quiet, tiny, portable, BEAUTIFUL design, lots of included software
Cons: A tad heavier than most 12" laptops, no line-in, meager basic specs, prone to stains
The Bottom Line: Awesome, awesome system. Simply the best computer I've ever had. Period. It's fast, easy to use, and bulletproof to boot. Highly recommended to ANYONE.
Review: Right out of the box, I was impressed. The sleek, contoured design, with the glossy white finish was simply a sight to behold. I've already turned a few heads sitting in the hallway using this thing. As soon as I hit the switch, the system was up and ...

First Apple in a long time, and not the last.

by   kemisulis ,  May 4, 2006
Pros: Easy, obvious, pleasing interface. Superb stable operation. Interfaces well on networks with PCs.
Cons: Gets a little warm. Dimmed screen is really dim. Would have liked a wide-screen.
The Bottom Line: Absolutely sold. I believe I am a permanent convert to Apple.
Review: The Apple G4 was acquired as a late return to Apple. Having lived through many iterations of Windows OSs, working through communication and network settings, and becoming more familiar than I would like with manual changes to system files, I thought the ...

The Bottom Line: An awesome value for a new laptop user, or someone who wants a light, great all around portable osx machine
Review: I can't put my Apple iBook down. While I use a p4 Sony PCG-FRV28 w/ 2.8 ghz processor for work & play - this Apple iBook has got to be one of the best portables going. The light factor really comes into play for me, being that the Sony is a brick in when ...

My life is complete with an iBook and some Johnny Walker Blue

by   ckoo79 ,  Mar 16, 2005
Pros: Four words: Blue screen. Grey box.
Cons: Steal/borrow your Mac friend's iLife 2005 DVD.
The Bottom Line: If this laptop is your primary computer, get an AppleCare plan. I have used it about 3 times with my G4 iMac, and they are very helpful.
Review: Warning: I am a Mac Fanatic. I instantly lose respect for those who have never built their $20,000 “dream system” on Apple.com. I hold up a cross and stake when I see a Sony Vaio come my way. I have to control my fists of fury when someone ...
