The Bottom Line: Rather expensive, but I didn't pay for them!!
Let me state I am probably the only person using these earphones (or ear buds as they are called) for the purpose I am using them. Got ya curious???
I am using them for dictation on my dictaphone transcriber at work. Now let me state I did not pay for them. My law firm paid for them - $99 for them on amazon.com, but they did get free shipping.
Now here s the reason. I have been employed with this law firm for slightly over a year. I have gone through three dictaphone transcribers (and three bosses, but I digress). Dictaphone transcribers are those machines that you put the little microcassettes in and type what is spoken to you through headphones. Evidently many companies are getting away from using dictaphone transcribers. Most models are discontinued in the Staples and Office Max catalogs we went through.
However, as luck would have it, one of my co-workers was bragging about how great the Bose Ear Buds she got for her Ipod are. (She s one of those people who thinks that exercising at a gym is good for you..) And a couple of the attorneys were interested in getting them for their own Ipods. It was at this time, I was ready to shove my dictaphone transcriber and headphones into the company shredder. I think it was she who came up with the idea to try her Bose Ear Buds in my transcriber. Sweet joy! They fit and the audio quality was fantastic. I could actually hear what was being said on my dinosaur machine (and not background noise from people passing by) and was able to actually transcribe the tapes much more quickly.
The office manager agreed that $99 for the Ear Buds was much more economical than $400 + for a machine that was near impossible to find, if at all, and have it work more than several months.
So do I love them? Yes. They came with there own little black carrying case and 3 different size spongy-things that go in your ear (small, medium, large - I happen to be a medium). They came in a clam-shell type hard clear plastic casing that was harder to open than any cd case I ever ran into. The only thing that is a bit annoying is the cords to each ear bud tend to get a bit twisted. Also, since my dictaphone transcriber is not stereo , only the right ear bud gives sound. However, I keep both ear buds in so as to block out outside noise. Also, since I answer the phone with my left hand, I can still hear the phone caller without removing the left ear bud each time I answer our phones. (Pulling the headphones/ear buds out of my ear each time I answer the phone was a great big pain in the butt with the previous headphones.)
So I do love them and they have great sound quality. I can only imagine how good they sound with an Ipod (which I do not have.)
