GPS on a budget

This Magellan Maestro 3200 model offers easy to use on a budget GPS navigation for those who like to know where they are going. There are not any special features found on the Magellan Maestro that you won’t find on any of the other competitor’s models. Magellan did however design a great looking model with a crisp display and great functionality. The Maestro 3200 has a 3.5” touch-screen that is almost too small for a person with big fumbling fingers such as myself. However, as long as the vehicle is not in movement (which it shouldn’t be anyway if you are driving and messing with this thing) I can easily program in my addresses by using the on-screen keyboard. The unit has an SD-card slot which you can use to expand your POIs but I have not taken advantage of. I installed the included software but either I was too impatient or the software required too much for me to care enough to use. This is a very slim device that easily will fit in a pocket, bag or purse. What I have found is the built-in antenna picks up exceptionally well. You do not have to have this thing plastered to your window to get great reception (although different areas may vary). On our last trip I was easily able to use this while sitting in the back of an RV driving down the road. While on the topic of mounting, the included window mount is very easy to use but typically does require the use of two hands to install. A single flip of a lever creates the suction needed to secure the GPS to the window (or any other surface if you use the adhesive disc included). In short; this is a low-budget device that offers everything you would expect from a model in this price range. No it does not have text-to-speech but not too many do at this price (yet). It does offer quick calculations, and a decent amount of POIs (1.3 million). Definitely worth considering if you are making your first GPS purchase and don’t want to spend an arm and a leg or maybe adding a second for those occasional outings.
