Would Not Recommend

I purchased this unit after I tried a friend’s Garmin Street Pilot C340 one weekend. I got it for an excellent price, but I am going to return it to get my money back. If you miss your turn with this unit, it tells you to make a “U” turn. Try doing that in city traffic. The Garmin would just recalculate and tell you the next turn to make to get you to your destination from your screw up. I also question if it really takes you the shortest distance. The Garmin unit I borrowed actually showed me short cuts I was not aware of, but the Magellan would want to take me ways that I swear were longer. The final straw though was twice, when the unit would tell me to take the road “x” to road “y” and turn right, and I knew a road that went from the road “x” to road “y” that was a tiny bit shorter, so I went the way I knew and the Magellan unit kept telling me to make a “U” turn and go back, right up to and including as I was turning onto road “y”. The second time it happened the unit told me for an entire mile to “make a U turn”, even when I was at a stop sign getting ready to turn onto road “y”, the Magellan said “make a U turn and go back.” I was not impressed at all. When I did this with the Garmin, it just said “recalculating, make a right onto road “y” 1 mile ahead.” I am going to purchase a Garmin. It may cost a few dollars more, but it is worth it.
