Frigidaire Freezer Comes Through!

After my experience with the Haier Chest Freezer I ordered the 5 cu. Ft. Frigidaire Chest Freezer FFCO522D from Amazon.Com for $189.00 plus $78.00 shipping.  So for a total of $287.00 it was just $68.00 over the $219.00 that Amazon.com refunded for the Haier freezer that did not freeze. 

My new Frigidaire freezer was sent by Abt Electronics and came by freight this past Monday.  The freight line called me to make sure I would be home when the truck arrived.  They want you there as it is their policy to unload and take the item out of the packaging to make sure it is in good condition and works.  What a difference that was as the other was shipped by UPS and was dropped off at my door when I was not home.  This freight company also had a check list I had to fill out with a description of how the box looked and if no damages were noticeable anywhere on the product delivered.

The freezer is in my garage and after we had plugged it in within a few minutes I could feel a cool area and knew it was going to work.  The freezer measure 23 ¼ x 27 x 34 ¼ so it fits very nicely in the corner of my garage.  Since this freezer was a little larger at 5 cu. ft where the other one was only 3.5 cu. ft it gives me more freezer space the extra paid for shipping was a bonus. 

This freezer is a manual defrost unit which has an outlet in the front of the freezer to drain out any water after defrosting.  It recommended that you empty your freezer of frozen foods while defrosting the unit.  When defrosted to let it run long enough to get up to the right settings for keeping things frozen.

The instruction recommended that there is plenty of space around the freezer and not next to any heating unit.  It suggested the freezer should run for at least four hours to cool completely.   The next morning I was able to take items from my refrigerator freezer and transfer them to my freezer.  The freezer has a removable basket for smaller items and has one deep section and one like a shelf area.  I had plenty of room to spare.

It was time to stock up on frozen items that our grocery was having a sale on frozen foods.  I was never able to take advantage of these sales before as never had the room.  Now I am ready for any visits from my family and friends as there will be items stored for quick preparation.  Since I bake a lot of breads, sweat breads, candy, brownies and other goodies I now have plenty of space to store them.  I send gift baskets to grandchildren and to my friends as well, so I always am ready to send off another box of goodies.

Within the manual that came with this freezer it has a section of troubleshooting with what to do if certain things happen.  I will check on this if anything happens and try to fix the problem.  There is a one year warranty and a registration card to fill out and send in or do it online.  I prefer to do this online saving that stamp and snail mail.  LIFE IS COOL WHEN YOU BEAT THE HEAT!!
