The King Is Back

by   redwser ,   Jun 13, 2007

Pros:  Graphics, Storyline And General Fun

Cons:  It Is That Good The System Specs Are Very High

The Bottom Line:  I recommend this game because the storyline is amazing with HD video clips. The online play is huge and so fun with great ranking system.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun was released in 1999 with its expansion pack Firestorm and Finally after 8 years the king is really back and better than ever. In this instalment of Command and Conquer you will be back controlling the forces of GDI or NOD in a futuristic earth with the most advanced weapons and war machines known to man. The earth is split into 3 zones, first is the red zone which is inhabitable then there is the yellow zones which is mainly controlled by NOD which is partly inhabitable then finally there is the blue zones what are unaffected by Tiberium.
The game starts with NOD launching a Nuke at the GDI space station which is holding a meeting with all the top ranking members in GDI and the station is destroyed which starts the Third Tiberium War.

The game allows the player to play the same storyline from GDI and NOD’s point of view. Each faction has its own Hollywood cast with 90 minutes of HD video sequences which include:

GDI
Jack Granger played by Michael Ironside
Redmond Boyle played by Billy Dee Williams
Sandra Telfair played by Grace Park
Kirce James played by Jennifer Morrison

NOD
Kane played by Joe Kucan
Kilian Qatar played by Tricia Helfer
Ajay played by Josh Holloway

I think the best bit about this game is the fact that you can customize the computers AI so you can almost train your skills against different tactics that are used by players online. As the back of the game states that this game is introducing RTS as a sport because you can observe other people that play the game with live commentary.
The graphics on this game is the best I have ever seen BUT you have to have a good computer to play the game at its best. Here are the required specs to play the game at low!

CPU- 2.0GHz or faster (2.2 GHz or faster for Vista)
RAM- 512 MB (1 GB for Vista)
Disc Driver- 8x or faster DVD Drive
Hard Drive- 6.0 GB or more free space
Video- DirectX 9.0c compatible video card with 64 MB or more memory and one of these chipsets is required: ATI Radeon 8500 (9500 for vista) or greater.
Note ATI Radeon 9200, 9250, PCI: NVDIA GeForce 4 MX is not supported.
Sound-DirectX 9.0c compatible
You will also need a Cable, DSL or faster connection to play this game online.

The online play you will need to set up an EA account or login into a EA account to play online but once you get online it is just wow. I personally love this game online mostly in team battles because I am not the best online so I need people to back me up. Online play has 5 game matches unranked, ranked 1v1, ranked 2v2, clan 1v1, clan 2v2. Like other games you can chat in lobby’s and create game rooms and now you can speak to players using voice over IP (VOIP) which allows communication between players in sticky situations.
Each player has his or her own rank picture with 4 changeable parts deeding on how you play online. The background of your rank depends on what faction you like to play with e.g. red if you play mostly as NOD online. The top left little triangle at the rank picture depends on your sportsmanship reviews after matches with other players and the top right triangle depends on your skill level which players vote on after matches. Finally the symbol in the middle of the rank picture is based on the army with the little arrow facing up and starts.
As you play more and more online you may wan to join a clan and unite with other players under a banner. I must say joining a clan is a great way to make more friends and you do sometimes find yourself doing a lot of clan battles if you find a good clan.

Overall-
I personally love this game and it was well worth the wait. The graphics are the best I have seen only if you have a top computer to see them. Like I have said in my other reviews on games the storyline is what makes a good addictive game and you can tell the producers of this game agree with me because they have brought in some of the best actors around at the moment from Hollywood. The online play is amazing but like always and you can never stop the unfair big mouths that go out to ruin other people’s experiences but it is very rare in this game. This is a top game and anybody that likes to build p bases and attack the enemy with units then this is the game for you.

Please leave commants on anything else you would like to know and i will update this review with the information. thank-you for reading
