The Bottom Line:
This clock radio is perfect as an alarm clock and gets wonderful radio reception for use at the office.
Overall Rating:
Author's Review
I have two of these, one at work on my desk and one on my nightstand. The Timex T307S is about half the size of a standard office phone so it takes up virtually no desk or nightstand space, which is perfect for the home or the office. For this review I will highlight each feature on the clock radio and give the pros and cons.
Display:
The display on the front is extremely nice. The time is displaying with large numbers that are easy to read at night or in the morning. I needed glasses to see my previous clock radio and this one I can see clearly without glasses. You can also dim the display if you like a dark sleeping environment by simply touching the snooze button. The display will clearly shows symbols to indicate when the alarm(s) are set so you don't have to worry. The display also has shows the date which is awesome for on my desk at work because I never have to look for a calendar.
Alarms:
Two alarms - big plus. However, the second alarm can only be set to buzzer or nature sounds. I don't think this is a major negative but others might. You can also program the alarms for either 7, 5, or 2 days (so you can get up later on weekends if you wish) this is a top notch feature for a $30 radio!
Battery:
There is a battery backup in the radio so if your power goes out you won't be late for work and the display will flash a low battery signal you can't miss when you need to replace it.
Sleep Mode:
At the touch of a button you tell the radio to play either your favorite radio station or nature sounds (birds, running water, wind chimes, or beach) for 90 minutes to you can fall asleep peacefully.
Radio:
It has a digital turner - just like your car - so you don't have to spin a little wheel trying to land on just the right spot to get a radio station and then being afraid to change it for fear of not finding it again. You just scan right to your favorite station. You can even program up to 18 radio stations. 12FM & 6AM on preset buttons right on front of the machine. I do this at work and I love it. I also have the home one programmed for the station with the best traffic updates. The radio also comes with an antenna (which is just a single "wire" coming out of the back. It picks up stations wonderfully. The first clock radio I tried at my workplace could pick up nothing. The Timex T307S picks up everything.
There are buttons on top of the radio for setting the alarms and seeking radio stations. They are extremely easy to use. The snooze button is in front of the radio and the off button is on the back. In 8 months I have never hit the wrong button.
The speaker on this radio is a good size and you can hear it very easily on low settings. You can also turn it up and hear it in the next room when getting ready for work - which is very nice.
On the side of the machine there is an input jack so you can listen to an IPod or MP3 player if you plan to use it at work.
Overall, I couldn't have been happier with this purchase - which is why I purchased a second one for my home after having one at the office.
