Pros: Some great songs, appearances by the Del McCoury Band & Alison Krauss, and no pop-country.

Cons: Features some unimpressive lyrics, has more of a commercial vibe than anything he's released before

The Bottom Line: I would recommend Modern Day Drifter for anyone who enjoyed Dierks' self-titled debut. Still, there's no way around it, it's a bit of a disappointment compared to his previous efforts.

Pros: Settle For A Slowdown; great vocals by Dierks throughout the album.

Cons: Lyrics detract more often than they shine; doesn't have very many standout tracks.

The Bottom Line: Dierks' second effort is a pretty average CD; fans of his first CD will get some enjoyment out of this one, just don't go in expecting too much.
