For the Time Being, I'll Stick to Harry Potter

Date of Review:  Nov 25, 2002
The Bottom Line: Read it, if you're really curious. But don't say I didn't warn you.
Review: I wanted to like this book. I really did, and not just because I had actually bought it. I wanted to find a new book for children which I'd like as much as I like Harry Potter books – I mean, Tolkien is great, Narnia books are great, there are a lot...

D'Arvit! Artemis Fowl comes up short

Date of Review:  Aug 18, 2002
The Bottom Line: Recommended for light reading - just don't get your hopes up. My bet? You'll see the movie and for once, enjoy it more than the book.
Review: I was so geared up for this book! A friend loaned it to me, having not yet read it. It was the cover that drew us both in. Shiny gold sparkly cover that touts "Stay back, Human. You don't know what you're dealing with."

Who could resist?...

readers won't be as impressed with this book as it is with itself

Date of Review:  Nov 14, 2002
The Bottom Line: An innovative approach: combining kids' sense of wonder with the integration of technology into their lives. But other than this one neat idea, the book is entirely intolerable.
Review: In these post-Potter times, kids' fiction has been enjoying a wild and crazy boom in the magic department. The book "Artemis Fowl" is a new middle-grade fantasy novel that's been thrown about lately in circles where that sort of thing gets thrown...

Not Too Shabby

Date of Review:  Dec 2, 2002
The Bottom Line: I reccomend this book to children 11 and up because even if it is a great book, I don't know if adults would enjoy the fantasy
Review: What we have here is a great children's book. Great story, But I found it a little too fantastic. We also have a new author introduced, Eoin Colfer who is living up to all expectations. Artemis Fowl is about a young genius,Who's father is a criminal...

Artemis Fowl

Date of Review:  Nov 25, 2006
The Bottom Line: I recommend that this book be read by people who love to read, because it is a fun book to read. The way the author writes keeps you wanting more.
Review: Artemis Fowl is many things. He's a genius. He's a millionaire. He's a criminal mastermind. Oh yeah, and he's twelve. What doesn't he have? How about parents? His father was taken captive while on a ship. His mother, stricken with grief, has slowly...

Fairy tale with a difference

The Bottom Line: Read the book, have a laugh and wait impatiently for book four!!

The characters are great fun, from the...

Second Book Better than First

Date of Review:  May 27, 2002
The Bottom Line: Great second book with characters from the first. A different plot line, but just as many twists and turns.
Review: I had been disappointed with the first book because I read it with the expectation that it was "the next Harry Potter." For the second book, I went in with the expectation that it probably wouldn't be as good as the first (as sophomore efforts...
