Great Bible Study

I first went through the book of boundaries in a Bible study with several other women. At that time in my life I had already learned to set limits with the people I love. I wonder if I had gone through this book when I was going through my first marriage if things would have been different.

It was amazing for me to go through this with the group of woman that I did. They were all pretty much afraid of the book and to watch them grow in themselves and in the Lord was great.

The book starts out showing us the day in the life of a person who could not or would not set boundaries. The person was in need of being perfect. She was a virtual slave to her husband, her job, her family, and herself. I look back and think===that is how I was, and how much better life is now.

The book goes on to explain some of our fears in setting rules. It tells of our fears of not being a loving person. How we can be afraid that our boundaries are not legitimate. We are afraid that someone may be upset or hurt by them. (This always reminds me of parents in a store who say no to their child. The child starts to scream and throw a tantrum and immediately the parent gives in to the child.===They are more afraid of what others are thinking than the message they are sending the child. Could this be some of the problem of the world today?) How do I say no to someone who wants my time, my love my energy, my money? (Do you have it to give at this time or would saying no really be the best choice. Do not be driven by your fear, but by your heart.) The book will show you how to deal with your guilts and fears of setting boundaries. It will show you that they are not selfish acts, but necessary ones.

Part one of the book also goes on to explain how to build or create boundaries. It explains ten very clear laws of boundaries and then some of the myths. This would take hours to get into and explain, but trust me it is well worth the reading time.

Part two of the book goes on to explain some of the conflicts in setting boundaries.

When all this is learned, you are then taught how to cope with the resistance you are going to face. Remember, this is not only going to be new to you, but to those around you. You will be shown how to measure the success of the boundaries you set, and then finally you will relive day one of the book. This time, however, boundaries are in place. Read the book and see how different the days turn out.
