Alan Jackson - Precious Memories - One Great Gospel CD!

When I think of country music, Alan Jackson is one of the few people who have kept what I call true country music roots in all of his music. I was excited to see him release Precious Memories a cd of beautiful gospel songs. Alan Jackson originally recorded this cd for his mom, but I for one am glad that it was released to the public. Each song on Precious Memories is a timeless song of faith that Alan uses his great voice to bring back memories of a simpler time and songs that I grew up singing in church as a child.

My Favorite Songs

Blessed Assurance - This song reminds us of the assurance we have from Jesus love. Great song with guitar in the background. Alan does a great job on this song.

I Love To Tell The Story - Another slow song that reminds us of Jesus love for us and that one day we will meet him again in glory. The harmony on this song is wonderful and the piano just gives me chills when I listen.

Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus - This song speaks to your heart with promises of trusting Jesus and what he will do for you. The background vocals on this song are done by Alan’s wife Denise and their daughters Mattie and Ali. This makes this song so sweet with the children’s voices in the background.

I’ll Fly Away - This song picks up the tempo and the harmony and piano are wonderful. This is one of those songs that you want to tap your foot and clap right along with. The piano solo in this song will give you chills and make you smile all at the same time.

What A Friend We Have In Jesus - This song slows down the pace again. There is something very special about this song, it reminds me that all we need to do is pray and Jesus is listening. Tears well up in my eyes each time I hear it. Knowing that this is my mother’s favorite song, I am sure has something to do with that. Once again great piano, harmony and just a great listen.

How Great Thou Art - To me this is probably the most beautiful gospel song ever written. No matter who sings it or where I hear it, the chills are there. Alan brings his own style to this great gospel hymn with softness and reverence as he sings it.

When Christ Shall Come
With Shouts of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart

I am so glad that Alan included this song on the album; it is a beautiful addition and will leave you wanting to listen again and again.


Final Thoughts

This cd is a very comforting to me to listen to. It brings back memories of singing in church as a child with my parents by my side. Each song on this cd, brings up a different memory for me of days gone by.

This cd is definitely a Christian cd and Alan Jackson did a perfect job picking out every song that was recorded for this cd. Including his wife and children singing makes it even more special for his mom I am sure. This cd was produced by Keith Stegall and recorded in Nashville, TN.
