Paul Newman was awesome as "Doc Hudson"
Pros:
Makes ya wanna go on vacation with the family down Route 66
Cons:
Plot might be unoriginal, but remember it's a kid flick
The Bottom Line:
My wife, my kids and I all loved it. One of the better Disney flicks. Probably in my Top 5.

Author's Review
Cars tells the story of Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), a hotshot rookie racecar, who's competing in the annual Piston Cup race. After a three way tie, the three competitors, Lightning, 'The King' Strip Weathers (Richard Petty) and Chick Hicks (Michael Keaton) are to race again in California in one week to determine the winner of the Piston Cup. Lightning sets out for California riding in Mack (John Ratzenberger), the tractor trailer who hauls Lightning around. After being unexpectedly and accidentally left in the middle of a dark Interstate in the middle of the night (remember, race cars don't have headlights), Lightning ends up in jail in the town of Radiator Springs, Carburetor County--a once thriving spot on Route 66. Lightning is sentenced to community service to fix the road, which he damaged, but still has to get to California so he can race to become the only rookie in history to win the Piston Cup.
The cast of folks doing voice work is phenomenal. If you're a car or racing fan, you will be very favorably impressed. Richard Petty and wife Lynda Petty, Tom and Ray Magliozzi (the Tappet Brothers), Dale Earnhardt Jr., Michael Schumacher (Formula 1 fame), Mario Andretti, Darrell Waltrip, and Humpy Wheeler (President of Lowes Motor Speedway). Bob Costas also does the voice of Bob Cutlass, racing announcer.
The folks with no connection to racing are equally impressive. Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt, Larry The Cable Guy, Cheech Marin, Tony Shalhoub, George Carlin, Katherine Helmond, John Ratzenberger, Michael Keaton, Jeremy Piven, Edie McClurg and Jay Leno.
Even were a couple of 'spoofs' of other Disney flicks in which those actors re-recorded a few bit lines. Tom Hanks (Woody) and Tim Allen (Buzz) from 'Toy Story', Billy Crystal (Mike) and John Goodman (Sully) from 'Monsters Inc.', and Dave Foley (Flik) from 'Bugs Life'.
Paul Newman did the voice of Doc Hudson--a central supporting character and my personal favorite. He's the Radiator Springs town judge, car repair guy (or doctor), and he also happens to have been The Fabulous Hudson Hornet.

Retired from racing, and not by choice, hoping to keep that world as far away as possible, Doc sees Lightning as representing everything wrong with racing and the world so there is instant hostility. As Lightning grows, he and Doc turn out to be much alike than either would care to admit.
Bonnie Hunt does the voice of Sally Carrera, a Porsche and Radiator Springs town attorney. She used to be a hotshot lawyer in L.A. She becomes a love interest for Lightning.
Larry The Cable Guy does the voice of Mater, a tow truck and the world's best backwards driver. If you know the comedy of Larry The Cable Guy, you'll know that Larry ain't exactly 'politically correct' and can on occasion utter an impure word. But nothing to worry about in Cars. It's completely kid friendly, and they worked in a couple of Larry's trademark phrases: Git r done, I don't care who you are, that's funny right there, I'm happier 'n a tornado in a trailer park!, that's what they done did said.
Story line is very similar to the movie 'Doc Hollywood'. However, Lighting and Doc Hudson are much more involved as adversaries and later friends in 'Cars' than was the involvement between Doc Stone and Doc Hogue in 'Doc Hollywood'. Also, Lightning makes a huge, very public, selfless sacrifice that is central to the story in 'Cars'. Doc Stone didn't have that sacrifice in 'Doc Hollywood'. I think there was a lot more plot depth in 'Cars' than in 'Doc Hollywood'.
