Product Review

A Classic and Rightly So

by   David96 ,   Sep 11, 2000

Pros:  heroes and storytelling

Cons:  none

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

After graduating from college this past year, I decided that I hadn't, in my 16 years of school, been taught enough Hemingway. So, I decided to pick up a copy of For Whom the Bell Tolls at the library, thinking that a book named after a John Donne poem couldn't be all that bad. And, much to my delight, I was right. I am a huge Hemingway fan for the very reasons found in this book. A hero that's immensely likeable despite his faults, a story that captures your soul, and beautiful descriptions of exotic locales. For Whom the Bell Tolls has it all, and draws the reader in until he/she is valiantly fighting fascism alongside the guerilla contingent. I highly recommend you lose yourself in this novel, as I did.
