Ernest grabbed the bull by the horns with this novel!

The directions on this page say,"compare this book to similar books you've read". Out of all the books I have read, there has never been a writing style or plot that I could sucessfuly make a comparison to this one. Hemingway's interest with bull fighting shows through in many of his novels, but this one... I was there with him.

One thing I always enjoyed about reading Hemingway was his long sentences. One thing my English teacher always told me not to do. And he does it beautifully. I love it when a sentence is wordy, lengthy, and fulfills every part of the mind. His style so descriptive and
captivating I cannot bare look away.

I have read "For Whom the Bell Tolls" also by Hemingway and have found the same satisfaction with this novel. Another thing that I look for in a book is good strong characters. Robert Jordan in "For Whom..." is... well the perfect determined solider, and his little "rabbit" is described to be ugly but Hemingway's words make her ugliness fit... and therefore she becomes uniquely beautiful. I found their love affair quite exciting and strong despite what they were dealing. The plot was also very exciting in this book, well it did take place during the war, which added a little political talk.

I have never read an author much like Hemingway, and I think that his works will all be around until the last sun rises. The "The Sun Also Rises" is a great book, for the expirenced reader. There was only one block I stumbled over while reading this book, that was dull spots. But the feelings between the close group of friends is intense and this is another book in which the characters make the plot so much more interesting.
