by  JiggyJay ,  Jul 24, 2004
56 out of 56 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Hilarious banter, ballsy statements, addictive, controversial views
Cons: A little bit biased even for a satire
The Bottom Line: The Perfect Companion To Go With Downsize This is The Big One.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Michael Moore is famous. After making his extraordinary directorial debut with Roger & Me and then going on with the early nineties television series, TV Nation, followed by his awesome Canadian Bacon he cemented himself into...

Moore Relevant Than Ever

by  Bruguru ,  Jul 9, 2003
56 out of 56 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Funny, poignant.
Cons: At times questionable data.
The Bottom Line: A fascinating satire and commentary upon American society.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: It has been said that great men are often shaped by great events. That is certainly true in the case of Michael Moore, the flamboyant and outspoken director of the award-winning film Roger & Me. Whether or not you agree with him, there is no...

Review: "Remember the American Dream? For those of you too young to have experienced it, this is what it used to be:

If you work hard, and your company prospers, you, too, shall prosper.

That dream has gone up in smoke. It has been...

Evidently he thinks Downsize is a dirty word, but that's not my objection

by  lorendiac ,  Mar 10, 2001
24 out of 24 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Funny. Well-researched usually. Sociopolitical essays from a strong-minded man.
Cons: Some of the illogical parts may have been meant seriously.
The Bottom Line: It's very entertaining to read, as long as you don't take him too seriously on some issues. I intend to watch his documentary "Roger & Me" sometime.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: When it's supposed to be humorous political commentary, it makes a reviewer's job a lot harder. When I encounter something that looks highly illogical/inconsistent, but which is (for that reason) rather amusing, I have to ask myself whether...

I Will Downsize You, My Friend

by  updateghost ,  Nov 10, 2003
21 out of 21 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Sometimes funny, rarely right.
Cons: No back-up, fallible even if he could substantiate his claims.
The Bottom Line: Don't waste your time.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: It is a sad, sad thing that I can discredit Mr. Michael Moore, the author of this book, with only two words. Three, if you're one of his greater supporters and would be biased enough to not even let me include the dash. What are those two/three...

"Random threats" not so random after all

by  stephenryan ,  Jun 13, 2001
21 out of 21 people found this review helpful.
Pros: "Random threats" are well-planned essays on American culture.
Cons: Maybe some cross the line: "Why doesn't GM sell crack?"
The Bottom Line: A smart, witty commentary on contemporary American politics and living. Pick this up if you dislike the rantings of conservative sycophant Rush Limbaugh.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I must say, I enjoy satire. These kinds of books are ones that amuse me to no end. My copy of Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations has been used more often than my well-thumbed copy of the AP stylebook (journalists will...

Pros: Great writing, humor

Review: "Downsize This!", Michael Moore's latest take on American corporate culture, should be required reading for anyone entering the workforce. Moore shows that Horatio Alger skipped town and moved to Mexico long ago. In this day and age,if you work hard...

by  towel401 ,  Jan 12, 2005
12 out of 12 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Very funny & informative
Cons: Tells me a lot of stuff I knew already
The Bottom Line: This is a great book to read unless you support corporate america & corrupt politicians
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: This book explains in detail how big corporations & politicians operate and is very funny. I love the chapter where he says life should start with the sperm, and millions of men are recklessly aborting their sperm. He does other crazy things like...

Common sense for a stupid America

by  jenzahara ,  Dec 21, 2000
10 out of 10 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Funny, biting commentary
Cons: none!!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: What I like about Michael Moore is his ability to cut through the krap in society, expose it, and make me laugh about it. He never has failed me yet.

This book is from 1997, so it's a bit dated. But guess what? The stuff he points out,...

Required reading for corporate America

by  vitara12 ,  Nov 2, 2003
9 out of 10 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Funny, takes on big business and its provocative.
Cons: Comes across as a bit socialist in his positions.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: This book is savagely funny but tainted with questionable figures from certain chapters.

However, after reading Mr. Moore's essay on corporate stupidity, I realize that he is truly enjoying himself at the expense of big business.
