Author's Review
If you've been to see some good progressive house shows lately, you're bound to have felt the influence of Nick Warren and this album. Nick Warren, part of the tandem that is Way Out West, hails from Bristol and has been a steady force in electronic music for nearly a decade now. Amsterdam, his third Global Underground effort, is I believe his finest effort for the Boxed Brothers. Disc 1 is absolutely liquid bliss. If you put Disc 1 in a CD player and I'd never heard it before, I might guess that we were listening to a Deep Dish CD. If you like Deep Dish (and you really, really should), then Disc 1 will tickle you to death with its smooth beats of deep house. Disc 2 wanders to the realm of trance a bit more, though progressive house beats still permeate throughout. Disc 2 will make you smile, if for nothing else than the lyrics on track 7: "If you don't like drugs, do me a favor and take all your tapes, CDs and records and throw them out the window, cause you know what? All those musicians that made that great music that has enhanced your lives throughout the years... real f****ing high."
I'd recommend this album to any fan of progressive house and trance. Warren is silky smooth, he's deadly in the mix, and his track selection is supurb. Just check it out and listen carefully. Odds are you'll hear two or three records you've been out on the dancefloor sweating to in the last year.
