Author's Review
When most Anthologies come out, they are like a view into an artist's past with just one or two new songs on them. Kenny Chesney's Greatest Hits CD has 12 Top hits, one a live version, and six new songs. In reality this CD is A New CD without filler material. It has enough new tracks to be considered a new CD and yet the "filler" tracks are older top hits. It's like getting the best of both worlds.
When Kenny First Arrived on the scene in 1994, he was signed to Nashville Upstart, Capricorn Records. He released one CD with Capricorn but was left label-less, as was Hank Williams Jr, when Capricorn Shut it's Doors.
BNA Records quickly snatched up his talent and released his second CD, All I Need To Know. It Spawned the Hits top five hits "Fall In Love" and "All I Need To Know."
After that promising start, Kenny Released a Song that first appeared on All I Need To Know, "Me And You." As the title track to his third CD, "Me and You" quickly went top 5. the second single, "Back Where I Come From," quickly went top 20. But it was his third single from the Me And You CD, "When I Close My Eyes," that got Kenny his first number one single.
For His Fourth CD, Kenny hit it big. Having gone gold, I Will Stand produced three hit singles. The first single, Written by Sons of the Desert's Drew Womack, "She's Got It All," was a Multi-Week Number one. Folling "She's," Kenny released "That's Why I'm Here" a poignant look at an alcoholic man who gets the courage to face his problem.
In the Spring of 1999, Kenny released his fifth CD, the multi-platinum Everywhere We Go. The first single was a multi-week number one hit, "How Forever Feels." Following "Forever," Kenny released the ballad "You Had Me From Hello." It was another number one which derived from a line in the movie Jerry Maguire. "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy, was the third single and third number one single from Everywhere We Go the final single, "What I Need To Do," again Saw Kenny sitting at the top of the charts.
For the greatest hits CD Kenny Chose Six new songs.
"I Lost It" - was the first single and went top ten.
"Don't Happen Twice" - Current Single and is rising the Charts.
"The Tin Man" has some interesting history. Originally released on Kenny's Capricorn Records CD, He re-recorded it for his BNA records debut All I Need To Know. Also re-recorded here, It may finally see the light of day as a single. The song is about a guy wishing that he was like the tin man and didn't have a heart so it wouldn't break.
"for The First Time" Co-written by Kenny and Phil Vassar, this song also features Phil on piano and background vocals. It should be the third or fourth single.
"Baptism" originally on the Everywhere We Go CD, this song is a gospel song duet with Randy Travis.
"Because Of Your Love" a song about a guy feeling that anything is possible because of his girlfriend/wife loving him.
"Only Time Will Tell" Considered a bonus track, probably won't be released as a single. This song has a George Strait feel to the it.
