Author's Review
Although I am surely a quite biased fan of Bob Marley, this collection is by far the greatest collection of music anywhere. Even though Bob is good no matter what, this collection takes you from his early days of "Judge Not" and "One Cup of Coffee" to the final days with selections from post-death albums like Confrontation.
Over the years of borrowing and listening to this box set (luckily I just purchased it used for only $30), each of the four discs have alternated amongst my favorites. Disc one catches a rare glimpse at the young Marley, when he was still called Nesta, and listeners can hear the evolution of this enlightened prophet. The acoustic medley on disc two is staggeringly true and personal, catching the cracks of Bob's voice and the light picks and strums on the guitar. Disc three contains many of his popularized works, like "No Woman No Cry" (London Live version), "Waiting in Vain", and "Three Little Birds". Disc four traverses into Bob's later spirituality, explaining both political reality through "Babylon System" and soulful wandering in "Give Thanks and Praise."
So if Bob is your man or you are seeking some higher musical tradition or even moral code, don't miss the re-release of this timeless, do I dare say religious, classic. Find truth in these words, for here it lies.
