Meg and Charles Murry are eccentrics. Their mother is a scientist and their father left them to work in another science field when Charles was a baby. They have two twin brothers who are regular and not nearly so exciting. One night the Murrys let a tramp into their house and that event is the start of their exciting adventures. As it turns out, Charles and Meg's father is merely in another dimension and it becomes his children's adventure when they decide to rescue him.

I enjoyed reading this book. The characters have well developed personalities which bring them to life. As they are swept form scenario to scenario you almost feel like you are there experiencing the same emotions and adventures. I would recommend this book to anyone who believes in achieving the impossible dream. I liked it because I felt I had a certain rapport with Meg Murry.
