Product Review

Good Looking Stroller- BUT

by   chiuchan ,   Oct 21, 2007

Pros:  full coverage canopy, multi-position recline, extra wide seat,

Cons:  not for those with latex allergy, very heavy,

The Bottom Line:  No, because it doesn't seem that durable. This model was a total revamp so I think there is probably kinks that have not been worked out.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

I had never heard about or seen a Zooper before searching for a double stroller. That's when a stumbled upon the Zooper Tango 2007. From the pictures it looked beautiful. The reviews were very limited so a took a chance and ordered it because I was looking for a side by side that was roomy enough for my 3 year old (28 lb and 36 inches) and a 2 month old. I wanted them to be able to both take naps at the same time when out for the day. The other strollers that I had considered were:

Maclaren Twin Techno - same price, slightly lighter at 25 lb,and compact fold, but when my daughter who is very skinny sat in it, she had no shoulder space, so it probably wouldn't have been a good seat for long naps.

Baby Jogger City Series Double - what held me back was the size and that fact that it doesn't have a fully upright position since it is a "jogger". But I would have liked that large wheels and sturdiness.

Phil and Teds Sport - Both of them wouldn't have been able to fully recline for their naps. Though I would have like the footprint.

So I order the Tango because it can hold the Graco snugride, while my 3 year old takes a nap.

Things I like:
-It comes pretty much assembled except for the wheels, which just lock in.
-the canopy is huge, down to the bumper bar when the seat is upright
-seat can be upright, my daughter doesn't like the slight recline in the joggers when she is awake
-both seats can fully recline for the naps, you can't do that with the tandems
-it accepts one car seat on either the left or the right.
-I like the bar handle because I can grip it at any arms width or use one hand and it is at a comfortable height. I'm 5'5"
-comes with all the accessories:rain cover, glare screen which looks like a bug screen but not as secure, and a weather boot(but I won't be able to use this one because the 3yo's legs are too long), and that it accept the car seat without having to buy an attachment.
-side by side allows me to easily face both children
-seat is very roomy, my 3 yo has napped well in it
Things I don't like:
-very heavy and the flat fold makes it seem even heavier because you can't wrap your arms around it
-good looking except for the "WWW.ZOOPER.COM" on both sides of the basket. This ad on the stroller takes the look a notch down
-"Tango" is cheaply stickered on. On one side of the stroller the sticker is already lifting off.
-the filling for the seat is 100% latex. this made me consider putting the stroller back in the box because I didn't want my children to get sensitized to latex and have trouble in the future but the hubby thought that wouldn't be a problem. Hope so.
-It was difficult to adjust the height of the shoulder straps of the belt.
*Biggest Problem* The first time I used the stroller with both children, it started to collapse when I was pushing it up a curb. I'm still not sure if it was my user error or the flimsiness of the stroller. It could have been my fault that I didn't fully "lock" the stroller open for use. Or that when going up the curb, the wheels knocked on the curb, causing the "lock" to release. But I will give it a longer trial run. If it happens again within this month I will try to return the stroller.
-The back wheels look like they will wear out very quickly. It has the slightest bend in it, though I have been within the weight limit and have only used it 3 times. I think I would have been more sturdy if it had the double wheels in the back like the front.
-it can get stuck on sidewalk cracks since that wheels are the same size as for a single stroller though it is holding a double load. My cheap single Metrolite Graco is a smoother ride.
