by   chrisrb ,  Sep 6, 2001

Cons: No phone jack to hook up telephone.
The Bottom Line: Great small fast modem. Perfect for anyone who has a USB connection and/or someone who does not want to open their computer to hook a modem up
Review: This is a great little modem. It is the fastest and easiest one I have owned. It was a snap to set up, took me about 5 minutes. Great for someone who is afraid of opening up the computer to put in an internal modem. Just plug it in and run the...

Good modem after all

by   nawargailani ,  Jun 16, 2002
Pros: Small and light, USB connection, Fast Transfer
Cons: Bad driver supplied with the CD, no phone jack :(
The Bottom Line: It is very good one but before installing anything, you should download the latest driver for it!
Review: I bought this modem before just about two weeks ago. I wanted external modem to free one PCI slot and also I thought that USB is better than serial connection.
I find myself agreed with paganlily1 review about this modem. Oddly, I have the same...

Pass on this slowpoke

by   lousygolfer ,  Jun 5, 2003
Pros: Small, cheap
Cons: Slow, seems a lot are defective
The Bottom Line: This diminutive modem looks high-tech, but performs worse than a circa 1993 28.8kbps modem.
Review: I just returned my second 3090 to Best Buy and this time got a refund, rather than an exchange. The reason: 24kbps connection every single time. That speed was unacceptable eight years ago, let alone today.

The best modem I've ever used was...

No more Zoom for me.

by   paganlily1 ,  Oct 4, 2001
Pros: It's small, 6 ft USB cable
Cons: Tech support is horrible, major compatibility issues
The Bottom Line: If you have patience of gold, a very well known motherboard chipset (other than VIA Apollo 133A), & like scavenger hunts for tech support numbers, this is a good choice.
Review: I ordered this Zoom modem to replace my beloved Modem Blaster DE5670 modem. After a week of fussing with it I gave up & called tech support.

The modem seemed promising. Supports the upcoming V.92 protocol which promises faster data transfer...

Not again

by   highrider71 ,  Nov 28, 2001
Pros: Small, Very fast
Cons: Difficult setup, unreliable
The Bottom Line: Very unreliable modem, tech support not concerned about problems.
Review: I replaced my WinModem with one of these. The setup was very difficult, and the manual didn't have much to offer. After finally getting this thing to work, the connection speed was okay(46000 vs 48000 with my Lucent) but did seem to load pages much...

Not worth the effort.. lousy modem

by   mferris ,  Jun 30, 2004
Pros: small, cheap
Cons: hard to install, no support, flacky, slow, just awful.
Review: I bought this to try on my IBM laptop as an alternative to the Lucent internal. I liked the idea of the features but I had trouble installing it on Windows XP. I downloaded the newest driver "exe" but it doesn't install the driver. You have to do that ...
