Author's Review
We didn't think they could do it, but we were wrong. Chris Carter and company have successfully made an X-Files film with a non-exclusive plot, engaging supporting actors and thought-provoking storyline--AND you don't have to be an X-Phile to enjoy it.
Gillian Anderson, as always, is just so BEAUTIFUL. She has this ethereal quality and a strong Roman nose (which is quite lovely). In this movie particularly the styles of both Mulder and Scully are shaped for the rest of the series run...Scully sports a long fashionable black waist coat and white blouse, Mulder looks dapper with better ties. These are seemingly insignificant details, but the sharper look of the cast compliments the more modern look the series acquired shortly after its cinematic debut.
This movie is fantastic, but is best enjoyed in its DVD edition. I love the top menu graphics, as well as the extra features such as the Carter/Bowman voiceover option while the movie plays. Such a great film, and deliciously presented in this new DVD format. Now that the series is over and the possibility of a second film is at least two years away, "Fight the Future" exists not only as a cinematic hallmark, but as an achievement within the context of the series, and television in general. Even more amazing is that it was filmed in between seasons of The X-Files! A terrific film, a perfect companion to one of the greatest dramas in the history of television.
