Author's Review

This game is amazing. I was just about to make the full switch to the newer and sexier dreamcast, but shaolin style has kept me loyal to playstation. The coolest part about the game is the kill moves at the end of fight. Each player has his own, original way of killing his opponent (in the violence mode, only). It is so funny. The other thing, which is a mini-trick, is at the beginning of the fight if you push "x" and triangle simultaneously, each wu member does a little greeting or salute type move. Those are funny, too.

Ok, about the game itself... there are lots of different combination moves. They are kind of hard to master, but I find if I just play, and press all the buttons in no particular strategic order, every once in a while you happen upon a cool combo. Each player has his own set of moves. They all have a distinct fighting style, with different strengths and weaknesses. The originality of each guy makes the game so addictive and almost impossible to get bored of. Also, if you play in "story mode", which is a really good concept and very well done, you can unlock different secret players, new scenes to fight at (at first you have only 6 scenes-- Chinese barge, basketball court, dead end street, etc), and potentially other secret functions--I haven't gotten that far, yet!. Another original idea is the practice mode. This mode allows you to master the move of a chosen player. If you master the move, you get to learn a new move and so on. There are 3 original Wu-Tang tracks featured in the game, negating the need to listen to the radio as you play! They are actually pretty good songs.

I saw Inspectah Deck on some talk show. He explained that Wu-Tang has roots in Staten Island and many of the places you can chose to fight have significance to the rappers lives. Deck could not stop raving about the game, so if you don't believe me when I say this game is a must have, listen the Clan members, themselves.
