"Working" is a stretch...

This movie was amusing but entirely unrealistic. Sort of along the lines of Michael J. Fox in, "The Secret of My Success".

Melanie Griffith plays an administrative assistant (secretary) who creates a false identity and deceives her way into impressing the client, somehow managing to get promoted in the process.

Harrison Ford is hard to dislike but he is much better at action adventure than comedy.

The movie is pretty much "fluff" but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Melanie Griffith is cute, there are a few good laughs, a little romance...the formula is set for a light-weight romantic comedy.

The only problem is that it is completely impossible. Success does not come from lying and cheating your way to the top. It comes from having something special to offer, believing in yourself, giving something of value to the world and working to make your dreams come true. Any woman who has ever worked in a corporate structure will agree that this movie bears absolutely no resemblance to reality.

Has anyone ever really gone from entry level to executive in a matter of months? Hollywood might have us believe otherwise, but they can't really sell the concept.

(This is similar to the other popular Hollywood mis-conception...that gorgeous 25-year-old women are dying to date 40+ average-looking, boring men...let's get real, okay? All that does is make men think that they can wait till their 40s and 50s and then choose from hundreds of pretty young things. In actuality, they just wind up alone & bitter...seen it happen a hundred times....)
