Author's Review
I love to read. I just adore the written word. Before I became the mother to 3 active little gals I read a book a day at least. I was never seen without a book in my bag/purse. Well, once I was. It was a day I was leaving work early and spending the day at an amusement park. I got stuck in the elevator for 45 minutes. I ask you, what are the chances of that happening on that particular day?? I never was without something to read again.
Being that I'm now a very busy woman I don't have a lot of time to sit down and read a book. I rarely have a stretch of time that I can read an article from start to finish in the many magazines I enjoy reading monthly.
That was until my mother introduced me to Woman's World. My Mom has introduced me to all the women's magazines I read monthly. Even if my Mom lived close enough to me that we could share this magazine I would not. I would still buy my own copy each week at the grocery store plopping my $1.49 (or $1.35 at stores that discount) down to pay for it.
I love this magazine. I read it each and every week from cover to cover. Ok, time to come clean. I don't really know how many words are in every issue, but I do read every single one of them. I usually pass along the magazines I read to others after I'm done, but not this one! I save at least one recipe from each issue, as well as many of the cartoons and other articles that are so helpful.
Each issue contains over 95% articles and 5% ads. The ads are not junky ones either they are for every day things. In the issue I bought tonight there are exactly 7 ads. One of which is the back cover (this is the back cover for every issue I believe and it's for the Literary Guild so it's one I use to look for the next book I want to read).
The quality of the paper is not that great, and that does bother me as I do save many of the issues in their entirety and the rest of the issues I do save part of it. The covers rip off very easily. I can live with this because the content more than makes up for it.
It's a very busy magazine. The busyness starts on the cover and goes to the last letter on the inside back cover. The editors jam as much information as possible between the covers. It's cluttered, yet easy to read and maneuver from article to article. No space is wasted, is how I look at it.
Let's take a look at what Woman's World has to offer each week.
Fashion & Beauty
At the front of the magazine is a two page spread that shows some of the latest styles. The women are wearing comfortable clothing that your "normal" woman can afford to wear and look good doing it. The fashions are affordable, easy to find, and can be worn every day.
Want to have a naturally beautiful face and a fit body without spending hours at the gym and $$$ at the make-up counter? Read the beauty section of Woman's World and you will find tips and ideas and recipe's to use in the comfort of your own home.
Is there a new medical beauty procedure out there? It will be covered in detail here giving both sides of the issue.
Real Life Stories
I love to be inspired. In every issue of Woman's World I'm inspired at least 3 or 4 times without fail. The stories of real life miracles that are happening every day across the nation to families like yours and mine have the ability to make my heart jump up in my throat as my eyes overflow with tears.
Features
This weeks issue features articles on dream jobs you can get, safety at the beach, making a marriage closer, getting more out of life, and the featured vacation get away is Southern Texas.
The features are like all the rest of the articles; packed with information, not separated by ads, and worth reading each and every paragraph.
Celebrities
These are usually bits of advice on how several celebrities keep their trim forms, beautiful faces, or how to prepare favorite dishes. You won't find your normal Hollywood fluff here but good information you can utilize.
Home & Family
It's in this area that I find the pieces I want to clip and save. You'll find articles on keeping your home clean and organized as well as show you several products out on the market today to help you do so.
I like the shopping tips and the craft patterns. I've learned so many things and have saved folders full of tips on cooking, cleaning, record keeping, saving money, saving time, and feeding my family safely. I actually have three articles that I have hanging on the inside of my kitchen cupboards and one inside my bathroom cupboard.
Your Good Health
Another great feature in my eyes is the two page spread dedicated to women's health. In each issue will be one full page article (this weeks is on the importance of drinking water). The second page of the two-page spread is broken down to 6 small articles; colored boxes are used to separate them. You'll find a box for Prevention, a Health Tip,What you should do about....., and a Medical Update. I have learned a lot about a woman's body and what things I should be doing as well as things I need to stop doing.
Food & Nutrition
Yummy! That is the word to describe the recipes provided for the readers of Woman's World. You will find one full page with 4 recipes on it to cut out and put in your recipe index file. There are full page spreads of a table with a complete meal pictured along with a recipe to make each dish.
Have a spare tire around the middle you want to loose? Check out the Woman's World Diet Club I am going to be following this much more closely from now on. In this half page column you will find a recipe, a slim trick, and a short article to help keep you on track.
Expert Advice
Need some advice? Have a money question you want answered but you don't know where to turn? Turn to the pages of Woman's World and you will find advice columns on money, parenting, diet & exercise, the Internet, life, health, and even a weekly dose of Chicken Soup for the Soul. I don't always need the information provided, yet I read it all anyway. Knowledge and information will never go to waste.
Etc.
In each issue you will find a romantic short story, a personality quiz (this weeks is what does your favorite time of day reveal about you....I'm a romantic.....), a two page mini mystery, your horoscope, a crossword puzzle (moderate skill level), editorial, photo galery of beautiful babies belonging to readers, and my favorite section of all -- the Last Laugh!
In this column you'll find cute full color cartoons, photographs, cute things kids say, and a most embarrassing moment. All items in this section (Last Laugh) are submitted by readers.
You know, I could go on for pages and pages extolling the virtues of my favorite magazine, Woman's World. I won't do that to you. I will tell you how to find it and enjoy in the comfort of your own home!
This magazine is available almost anywhere you go. I've found it at my grocery store (discounted 10%), at Target and other like stores, at gas stations, drug stores, and bookstores alike. If you buy it issue by issue expect to pay $1.49. It's only in the past two years that it's become available by subscription (a full page ad; none of those annoying post cards will be found in your lap while reading this magazine) for $19.97 for 20 issues, and $49.95 for 52 issues (a full year). My mail man is not the best when it comes to delivering my magazines safe and sound so I prefer to pick it up each week when I do my grocery shopping.

Next time you are at the super market grab a copy of Woman's World and sit down with your favorite beverage. You'll read it from cover to cover and not even realize you are doing it, it's such easy and joyful reading (informative too). Don't worry if you get interrupted the articles are compact and to the point. I hope you enjoy this magazine as much as I do!
Hint to the men reading, Woman's World makes a wonderful gift for your wife, mother, sister, significant other, or any important woman in your life at a cost your pocket book will appreciate.
