Author's Review
Woman's World may be a thin, small magazine but there is so much to read in each issue. I suppose this could be called fluff reading but I don't care. I don't always want something serious. Sometimes I enjoy just an escape.
Why do I like this magazine? Allow me to list the reasons!
Price Used to be you could snag a copy of this magazine for under a dollar. Now it is priced at $ 1.49. If you buy every copy (Woman's World is published every week) the cost could become hefty but I only buy one per month. If you wish to subscribe the cost is $ 49.95 per year (go to www.kable.com/WomansWorld for more info).
Usefulness I love that this magazine has practical ideas on weight loss (just about every issue has a success story about someone who has lost weight), gifts you can make (my favorite which I pulled out to file is how to make gel candles), recipes, investment ideas for those who don't have a lot of money to start with, budgeting.
Few ads As much as I enjoy some ads, I would prefer to buy a magazine for the magazine, not to read a bunch of ads. This one is not loaded with ads. A downside to that is you don't get the coupons that sometimes come in an ad.
Real-life stories I enjoy reading about how someone overcame an obstacle in their life or survived some real-life drama. It reminds me that I have a pretty nice life no matter how hard things can seem. It also spurs me to keep on keeping on when I feel like quitting.
An easy read This is one magazine that one can read a little, put it down, and come back later. Little spurts of time here and there are about all I have with so many children running around the house!
Other stuff If your child says something funny or you have a cute picture to show off, readers are invited to contribute to different columns. If published the magazine will send you money for it. Not too shabby!
Also included in this magazine: a romantic short story, mystery, marital advice, an excerpt from Chicken Soup for the Soul, remodeling and redecorating tips, and health information.
I have been reading Woman's World for years and will continue to do so.
I give it 5 stars!
