Product Review

Good Unit, Bad Power

by   bj0nes ,   Dec 6, 2004

Pros:  Small, dehumidify well.

Cons:  Two bad power supplies is not a coincidence.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought two of these little units for a couple of closets in our older brick house which were having problems with mold arising from condensation on the exterior walls. They work well, essentially they are just a little peltier cooler with a fan blowing the air over fins where the moisture condenses and collects in the pan. They managed to suck a surprising amount of moisture out in the first week, and then the levels dropped, probably because there wasn't much more to extract. So far so good. However, after a couple of months first one, then the second power supply failed (they use one of those external power bricks). They should replace them under warranty, but they have a ludicrious $15 charge for their warranty service. I can't find an alternate supply for the power units so I'm stuck. I see on Amazon that others have had issues with the power supplies too. Can't recommend.
