Pros: Smooth, yet strong. Complex, but not overpowering.
Cons: availability
The Bottom Line: Try this Bourbon, it might just become your favorite.
Review: I am continuing my quest to find the perfect Bourbon. Fortunately, since there is no such thing, I will have to sample every brand available before I pass on. I have had the original Wild Turkey and was not really impressed. It was average to say the ...

Pros: Absolutely excellent
Cons: not usually available in bars and restaurants
Review: Rare Breed is arguably the finest spirit produced by the finest bourbon purveyor in the land, Austin Nichols. Rare Breed is a blend of 6yr, 8yr and 12 yr old Wild Turkey, and is bottled uncut at barrel proof. The particular proof of the bottle I'm...

Pros: The best tasting Bourbon
Cons: Availability (although I've turned on 3 stores to it)
The Bottom Line: You will not be disappointed.
Review: In the 80's and 90's my two best friends and I hiked periodically in the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. We carried an adequate brand of whiskey with us to sip around the campsite in the evening. Since weight is a premium in hiking, anything we ...

Smoothest taste of Bourbon heaven

Pros: Not smoky, ever so smooth, sweet
Cons: May be a bit pricey for regular enjoyment
Review: Scotch VS Bourbon. It is akin to a PC VS a Mac. It all depends on one's taste, and, dare I say it, one's outlook on life.
I quite enjoy both kinds of spirits, but I tend to enjoy the company of Bourbon drinkers more. Perhaps it has to do... |

Pros: Availability and Price!
Cons: None that i have found
Review: In my youth I was subjected to "Tennessee" whiskey ie. Jack Daniels. I left the "American Bourbon" scene in 1982 and soley consumed Canadian brands till October of 2000. I purchased Wild Turkey Spirit and my life changed from that...

Pros: Very smooth drinkability
Cons: Kinda pricey
Review: I guess I first found Wild Turkey Rare Breed very soon after its initial appearance on the market. As an avid lover of Wild Turkey 101, I was happy to discover this excellent liquor. This is a sippin' whiskey, best experienced (by most people) straight,...

Pros: Refined. A most wonderful drinking experience, to be experienced over and over again.
Cons: Availability. I have to search it out. Fortunately, it's a labor of love.
Review: I was given my first bottle of Wild Turkey RARE BREED for Christmas three years ago. I'd never heard of it before then. My first drink of the amber nectar convinced me that I will never be without it again. Or the friends that gave it to me. Both, ...

Pros: Packs a wallop, smooth and civilized. A refined bourbon not be wasted on the young.
Cons: It will eventually run out.
Review: My brother got me a bottle of Rare Breed for my 40th birthday this past December. I sipped at it lovingly for months and occasionally shared a nip with my father who is definitely a bourbon expert. While I appreciated it's clean smooth finish my dad said ...

Pros: The finest bourbon I have ever tasted.
Cons: Sorrow that I did not taste it earlier.
Review: I am an experienced whiskey drinker, with tastes that include Scotch, Irish, bourbon and rye. When my local liquor store had a promotional special on Rare Breed, I picked up a bottle to give it a try. My first taste of Rare Breed was a revelation. I ...

Rare, but you need to drink it neat or with very light ice.

Pros: Robust while being very civilized, lends itself to being sipped (not drank) neat.
Cons: Expensive and all your other bourbon just became just a little less drinkable.
The Bottom Line: A bourbon aficionado's dream. Rare Breed is worth the money: No marketing hype on this one you get what you pay for!
Review: I believe the whole point of this bourbon is it's the most powerful flavor in a whiskey you can get without any harshness from the fermintation. So to dilute it much is to miss the art of this particular spirit. Drinking it neat you will notice a ...
