Whynter SNO ARC-10D Portable Air Conditioner

Taking advantage of the pre-summer sales we bought this unit a month ago. It is actually warm enough where I'm at (80F) that it's worth turning on the A/C ever so often. I use in the TV den which measures approximately 12x20. It arrived in reasonable time and was nicely packaged for the ride. The window exhaust setup was slightly tricky give that I had swing and not slide windows, but finally got it to align perfectly. The rest of the setup (inserting drainplugs in back of unit etc) with common sense and took all of 5 mins. BTW, remember to peel off the protective film on the sides if you're planning on keeping to the unit. We thought it was the wrong color at first and than realized it was a film coating. About 90 secs after the unit was turnd on I could feel the cold air right in front of the unit, knowing that it worked, I settled in to the den comfortably on a warm saturday afternoon. It took the unit about 35-40 mins to bring the general temperature down to a cool/almost cold level (maybe 10-12 degree drop). That being said, my den is cove like but is for all intents open to the main living room. One would assume that in an enclosed area you would see a similar temperature drop at a much faster rate. Noise wise it was on par with my old window unit. The real stainless steel sides are really nice and the overall shape fits my taste a lot better than some of the odd looking portable units I saw when shopping around.
