Once Again, the Basement's Dry - For how Long, I don't know.

Date of Review:  Jun 13, 2007
The Bottom Line: If the Whirlpool AD70USS 70-pint outlasts the competition, I'll be pleasantly surprised. They should pack a little guy with it to empty the bucket every five hours, though...
Review: Out here on the edge of the prairie (amidst the Great Corn Desert), the land is as flat as the proverbial pancake - so flat it makes Kansas look like the Rockies. Combine the flat topography - meaning that rainwater runs off at the leisurely pace of...

Keeps it dry

Date of Review:  Apr 5, 2008
The Bottom Line: The moisture sensor works and and allows good humidity reduction with less energy expended.
Review: Bought this dehumidifier last year to replace one that only lasted one year before the compressor went out. We live in a slab home and have a major humidity problem year round since there is no basement beneath us for air to flow through. We have to...

Top end Whirlpool dehumidifier

Date of Review:  Oct 12, 2007
The Bottom Line: I suggest buying this unit we went for the more expensive model and are glad we did. The size is right as it can require emptying 4 times a day.
Review: We had a wet 800 sq foot basement from dripping water falling from overhead air conditioning ducts. The condensation dripped on the floor forming puddles and was slowly destroying our furnace by causing rust to form inside of it. I did not believe...

NOISY and SMELLY

Date of Review:  Sep 4, 2005
Review: Too noisy to use in the house--might be good for the basement. Even at the other end of the house the noise level is quite bothersome. It also emits a ghastly chemical odor when on that permeates the entire house. I do not recommend this model.

Loud unit, lots of vibration

Date of Review:  Sep 12, 2005
Review: This is a loud unit with lots of vibration. My unit also developed a high-pitched whine after a few days of use and it was returned to the store. Although I had read similar reviews before purchasing, I hoped that Whirlpool had fixed the issues...

Noisy and Not Durable

Date of Review:  Jan 2, 2006
Review: We used this unit in our basement, and although it looked nice in store, it was annoyingly noisy when we turned it on. It was on constantly for 6 months and then just stopped working. Find something better.

Broke Already

Date of Review:  Jun 26, 2006
Review: I didn't even get to turn this thing on. Right out of the box, the caster wheel was broke. With all the other negative comments, I'm returning and getting either Friedrich or LG.

Whirlpool AD70USS1

Date of Review:  Oct 7, 2007
Review: Had a problem with my 3 1/2 year old noisy Whirlpool AD40DSL3 and reviewed all the reviews on other brands. They are all noisy.

My Whirlpool gave me 3 1/2 years of good service so I purchased the new model AD70USS1. This newer model is not...

Does the Job But Noisy

Date of Review:  Jan 15, 2006
Review: This unit works great at removing moisture from our basement but don't expect to watch T.V. or listen to music while it is running. We have to empty the catch basin on a regular basis and we notice the basement is drier. If you need to remove water...

Does the Job

Date of Review:  Jun 5, 2006
Review: I purchased this unit at Lowe's a few weeks ago. The thing pulls a tremendous amount of moisture out of the air...it is unbelievable.

Don't get the smaller model, if you are in doubt. The 70 pint unit does the trick. It literally pulls...
