So far has worked without a problem!
Pros:
Quiet, very clean clothes
Cons:
Seems to take longer than old washer. Can't throw clothes in while filling.
The Bottom Line:
I would definitely recommend this washer for an average size family! It works as advertised!

Author's Review
I have read all of the reviews on the web about the WFW8500SR washer (and matching dryer) and was very hesitant about buying them because of some bad reviews, but so far...so good. This front-loader seems to have better reviews than some of the earlier Whirlpools, so I decided to go with it as opposed to other models.
I bought the washer/dryer set from a local store (HH Gregg) and I was SURE to buy the extended warranty from them (provided by GE) since A & E (Whirlpool) is apparently awful. I install them myself, leveled the washer with utmost care and read the instructions thoroughly. I started it with the "clean washer" cycle with some bleach (as recommended in instructions). The "clean washer" cycle is recommended to keep the mold from building up (and it is also recommended to keep door open when not in use).
I then started washing clothes and have not stopped! Washer and Dryer have now done over 20 loads without a problem. I have done small loads, large loads, and every type of laundry...still no problems. I had to get adjusted to a few differences: 1. I had to buy HE detergent (it produces less suds) because regular detergent will cause electronics errors. 2. I had to get used to putting all clothes in washer, then starting washer...instead of starting then throwing in clothes (as I find stray socks and such!). 3. It doesn't give you an option for load size, it decides for you. 4. It seems to take much longer for a load (must be why everyone says it cleans so well).
I washed one load with 2 large blankets and it didn't have a problem. I washed a pair of VERY stained shorts and they almost came out clean. The sound of the spin cycle when it is stopping is really cool! Sounds like a jet plane slowing down (but not real loud). In fact, the loudest part of the cycle is when the water is filling it. Otherwise, you have to listen for the washer running to hear it.
I haven't tried stacking the units, but the fact that I can put them under a countertop is very nice. I can put detergent/fabric softener/etc. on top, or I can fold clothes on top. No wasted space.
Overall I would say that so far it has been a great experience! It seems that the only folks that write reviews are disgruntled buyers.
So far, the washer and dryer have been great!
