So far has worked without a problem!

by   dynamiq ,  Jun 19, 2007
Pros: Quiet, very clean clothes
Cons: Seems to take longer than old washer. Can't throw clothes in while filling.
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this washer for an average size family! It works as advertised!
Review: I have read all of the reviews on the web about the WFW8500SR washer (and matching dryer) and was very hesitant about buying them because of some bad reviews, but so far...so good. This front-loader seems to have better reviews than some of the earlier ...

Best buy for the money imho

by   dimapro ,  Oct 22, 2006
Pros: Silent, little vibrations, very economical, nice design, simple to figure out
Cons: wool setting wouldn't hurt, though I think it's the same as hand washables
Review: Had a top loader before which finally broke down after 20-25 years of use :) Checked whatever is available for reasonable amount of money and found the Duet Sport HT (3.6CF). Has had it for about 3 months now and couldn't be happier. Surely I can't ...

Great so far

by   monymacaroni ,  Dec 3, 2006
Pros: really quiet, uses very little water, looks great, I will never hand wash again
Cons: none so far
Review: Well I just got my new washer and so far I'm very happy. We spent quite a bit of time making sure the machine was PERFECTLY level and I must say it paid off. No shaking to speak of even at the high spin speed. The laundry comes out clean so far. I ...

Pros: very quiet gentle thorough wash shorter dry time user friendly options to meet all needs
Cons: none
Review: We've had the 8500 Duet washer and dryer for a couple weeks now and feel great about the energy/water $savings/conservation and getting a better wash/dry for it all. The clothes seem brighter and definitely less washer worn, less drying time and ...

It all depends on the installer!!

by   smitheight2007 ,  Jan 25, 2007
Pros: Wash time, water usage cut by two thirds. 35 minutes for 10 jeans to dry.
Cons: Should have gotten this ten years ago. It does walk a little.
Review: The washer is almost as good as watching TV. The kids laughed when I told them that I sat and watched but the laughter was turned to them when it was their turn to wash. They too just sat in awe!! My wife took pictures of us. The only problem is the ...

Arrived Somewhat Broken

by   freightshaker ,  Dec 28, 2007
Pros: Energy Star. Uses 60% less water. Delayed Start Time.
Cons: Arrived Broken (See Review) Not impressed with quality so far.
Review: We received our Duet Sport 8500 washer and dryer on December 24th. It arrived with a broken wash cycle selection dial (could have been the delivery drivers) and push buttons on the control panel were not flush (instead of a small round button, some ...

So far so good!

by   firetech ,  Jan 3, 2009
Pros: Large, efficent, lots of settings, water saving, ges clotes really dry from fast spin.
Cons: None to speak of.
Review: We bought this to replace our 10 year old first generation Frigidaire front loader. What a difference, way more capacity, easier to load/ unload, much much quieter, better door hindges and has a solid sturdy feel to it. Really don't like having all the ...

A+ Stability but Disappointing Wash

by   spirrotta ,  Sep 27, 2006
Pros: VERY stable operation even with pedestal on Upper Floor
Cons: Minimal Features, Lousy Stain Fighting, Mediocre Clean
The Bottom Line: Recommended for upper floor laundry room installs. Not recommended for cleaning stained clothes (such as children's clothes).
Review: We bought the Duet Sport Washer and Dryer in April because it seemed to be the only front-load model on the market that was recommended for Second Floor install. True to the marketing, it is extremely stable in our 1840 Colonial installed on the Second ...

leaks in clean washer cycle

by   mmcwalters ,  Oct 13, 2007
Pros: washes well, low water usage
Cons: noisy spring, leaks in clean washer cycle, lack of replacement parts.
Review: Purchased on 8/7/07 and installation went well. Used the clean washer cycle and water pours out from the front seal. Called and they came out to fix it. It was fixed until the following month when I used the clean washer cycle again. Started to leak, ...

not too happy with this washer

by   anneemac ,  Jul 25, 2008
Pros: cleaner clothes than a top loader
Cons: service calls
Review: we have had this washer a little over a year. We made service call #3 to Sears. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired but that would be the subject of another post. We have had this machine leak intermittently from the front door. We are ...
