Big loads and no mold

My wife and I decided on a top loader over a front loader. We wanted to avoid the mold issue and the high price of the front loaders. The machine is great! It handles large loads and allows you to set the water level. (It won't be long before Big Brother takes that freedom from us.)

Also, this machine uses regular detergent not that HE stuff. The controls took a little getting use to but once you get the hang of it you'll be fine.

When we started researching and looking we had first considered the top loader. You see them being heavily promoted in all the appliance stores. After looking at various online review sites and Consumer Reports we got concerned about the mold issue with the front loaders. Then we learned that the doors only open one way and cannot be reversed. This was the final blow to getting a front loader.

We wanted to consider a SpeedQueen--they get great reviews. But good luck trying to find one in a store. We live in a large metropolitan area and couldn't find a store open on the weekend which carried the SpeedQueen brand. So forget them.

Once we decided we wanted a top loader then the issue was agitator or nonagitator. The agitator ones we found cost less and are more likely to use regular detergent. So our decision was made. The Whirlpool Cabrio with agitator was the perfect fit for what we wanted.

Since using the machine we've found it to work as advertised. Also, this machine really wrings the water out of the clothes. Our dryer time has been cut by a third or more.
