It cleans wonderfully!

I have owned my washer for 11 weeks. I bought it because it holds a large load and Consumer Reports reviewed it favorably.

I love how well this machine cleans. I often squirt pretreater on stains and toss them in WITHOUT RUBBING and nearly every time the stains come out. I let the machine auto select the water level. My gut feeling at first was it needed more water, but I have come to believe the auto water level is just right for keeping the detergent highly concentrated for the best results. I have used front loaders that supposedly move the water through the clothes so many more times in a minute than a top loader ever could, but they never cleaned as well as this top loader. (I should disclose that I have exceptionally soft water in my present location.)

I don't like some of the limitations on the cycles. Namely the temperature limitations on Colors/Darks and Delicate cycles. I prefer to wash bedding in hot water (to remove dust mite debris) with low or medium agitation (to reduce wear and tear) and high spin (to reduce drying time). The Cabrio will not allow hot water temperature on these cycles.

The lid locking issue has been a non-issue for me. As far as I can tell, I am able to pause the cycle and lift the lid at any time. I have done this to satisfy my curiosity about water level and sudsing and to add garments. There is a green add garments light on for the first 8 minutes of each cycle. This is the best time to add garments because the machine is still evaluating the water level. You can add garments AT ANY TIME if you really want to. If you add something like a light weight shirt or a few socks it should not make a difference to to the water level.

The cycles I use most often are Whitest Whites and Colors/Darks. I created a cheat sheet of wash speeds and spin speeds for every cycle (there are seven) to keep by my washer so I can select the most appropriate cycle.

I did not buy a matching Cabrio dryer. I felt the washer was well worth the purchase price, but the dryer didn't have anything special to offer for the price. I bought a dryer from another line. If I had $150 to spare I would have gotten the Cabrio dryer for the aesthetics.

I have experienced a couple of stretched, twisted loads, but it hasn't been a significant problem. I select cycles with low or medium wash speed to reduce wear on the laundry.

My washer is located on a carpeted cement floor and is stays in place nicely. It makes unique sounds I haven't heard from other washers, but it isn't loud.

I hope I don't have the expensive electronic repairs other reviewers have experienced.
