Fair dryer - doesn't match washer in color
Date of Review: Sep 11, 2007
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to match the set but on its own I would not purchase this dryer. It does a fair job of drying, especially towels and jeans.
We purchased this Whirlpool dryer as a match to the Whirlpool WFW9400S front loading washer machine. We purchased it in Bisque/Biscuit. We were replacing another set of the same color. When we received the washer and dryer set we noticed they were not the same color. The dryer was very light bisque and the washer was darker, almost almond. We called the store where we purchased it and they suggested we call Whirlpool - what a mistake. Dealing with Whirlpool is a dead end. They did not believe us and sent a repair person to verify the color difference. The repair person verified the color difference and reported it to Whirlpool. They would not replace the machine. They offered $100 each to keep them. We paid over $2,000 for a matched set and extra for the premium color. We wanted what we paid for. Luckily we purchased our set from a local, independent, appliance store. This store was family owned and they dealt with Whirlpool to get them to replace the set with the same versions in white. While we were going through this mess we noticed that BestBuy had the same set in white on their floor. We noticed that that set did not match either. We pointed it out to the sales person who agreed and said he didn't notice it before. Whirlpool obviously has a color match problem between the German made washer and the dryer made elsewhere (Canada I think). We received our white set and they are slightly different but they are better than the biscuit. The dryer does a fair job. The sensor seems to shut off the unit a little too soon and drying really hot for long is not good either.
