AFTER ALMOST A YEAR OF USE-STILL GOOD
Date of Review: Dec 22, 2007
The Bottom Line: Both the 9400 Washer and 9250 Dryer are good buys, you could do a lot worse.
This will be an express review because it is either that or no review at all, since I simply do not have the time. I bought this washer on January 13, 2006 along with the 9250 Dryer as a Whirlpool Duet set. The washer has worked perfectly for me ever since, and is in use perhaps 3 to 5 times a week. I have had no mold or bacteria smells or odors. I run periodically some bleach through the machine without clothes on a special cycle recommended in the manual, leave the door open about 6 inches or so after use, and wipe the inner door and rubber seal dry with a cloth. I have had no electrical computer problems, all cycles seem to work very well. A normal cycle is about 49 minutes or so, which is not fast, but the clothes come out nice and clean and well on their way to be being dry.The machine uses very little water and a very small amount of HE detergent to accomplish the wash. On the extremely high speed spin cycle the machine must be perfectly level front to back and side to side or the machine will tend to shake, rattle, and roll a little bit. Also the force of the water coming out of the hose on a high spin is rather awesome so make sure the hose is fastened to the drain pipe or sink very securely. I have been happy with this machine---it has done everything I hoped for and a little more. A good buy for me.
