Frustrating. Think I blew a fuse trying to deal with customer service.

It's the self-cleaning feature that creates the problem. It's the lack off admission on the part of Whirlpool customer service that has made me so furious.

We bought the house with all the appliances already installed, and the house was 4-5 years old at the time. About a year later I had a cleaning woman, and casually asked her to use the self-cleaning feature while I ran some errands.

The oven would not heat up after this but since the digital panel and fans worked, we hadn't blown a fuse. My husband insisted "she must have done something wrong" but there is nothing to it. We paid to have it fixed. Over $200. Here it is three years later and I decided it was time (!) to use the feature. I'd forgotten about the issue. Sure enough. The oven is unusable.

Today I spent over 2 hours either on hold, repeating the tale to 4 different reps, or being transferred to safety department and then cut off. I even spoke to a supervisor. No one would admit that anyone has ever complained about this problem before, and I had a nerve not taking responsibility for a 9 year old appliance. I kept insisting that it was not wear and tear, it was a design flaw. I read the five reviewers above and found the same complaint on another site.
