Hi i see some of the front load washer owners still need a little guidance on which laundry detergents to use. Well here goes. I have posted a review of certain detergents in the review for the maytag front loads. But im will touch base with them here.To start with my sisiter just bought this whirlpool and loves it. A well thought out machine.Whirlpool did it again with another winner. touching on the right soaps to use, I will try and keep this review to a minimum. and simple as well. I live in Canada, ont is the province. Friends of mine own a very up scale appliance store in Kingston Ont. I was down visiting one day and the owners son said come in and see what happens if you dont use HE det. This was a 2 yr old front load bought from them and it still looked like new. The stainless steel wash basket was out of the inner tub and just sitting there. I asked Ernie was the basket being replaced and he said no the motor was. I said what "yes he said take a look on the back of the drum" so i did and I saw what was I thought a felt ring 2 in wide and 2 to 3 in deep all around the outside back of the drum and i said " you are also replacing the felt pad on the back to" i thought it was something with which the drum rode on while turning and he said" look again and this time feel it" well I did and could not believe what i was seeing. A solid mass had formed about 2 in wide and just as even as you please around the outside of the wash basket made up of soap curds and scuzz from detergents other than what is recommended for the front load machines. Over time It had prevented the wash basket from turning properly and built up fast that it ewas stopping the drum from turning thus blowing belts and bearings and finally a motor. So Folks I hope i have touched on a very important subject today. USE the proper low suds detergent in your machine. Here are the ones that we are lucky enough to have in Canada. Sears, Tide HE, Sunlight He, like tide its in powder or liquid form, and now a very good one called Purex He which we love better than tide, Fab liquid or powder, All liquid or powder and i might add its always been a lowsuds to protect even the top loads from excess suds, and the very expensive Persil from germany. I hope all found this article helpful in using and protecting your new machines
