Author's Review
After my former Kenmore dishwasher of about 12 years passed away, and having 8 people in my family, I could not wait to rid my swampy, mold-infested science experiment with a new model. Even though I wasn't as put out washing dishes by hand as I was when my washer died, it was still inconvenient and I wanted a dishwasher soon. I spoke with two repairmen and some customers and the repair people said they would only consider a Whirlpool or Kenmore. Hey, I like them best anyway, so not a biggie to me, although I had been drawn to a really nice looking Frigidaire that had all the features I wanted but had pretty horrible reviews.
I did read up on the Kenmore and Whirlpool models I liked and determined almost all the dishwashers seemed to have bad reviews. Then I went store shopping and from that realized that the Kenmore I liked did not have as many features as the Whirlpool Gold, plus Sears' extended warranty is so much more than Lowe's, even though my husband wound up deciding not to purchase an extended warranty.
I purchased it at Lowe's, on sale, plus 10% off for opening a Lowe's credit card. I got next day delivery, set up, and take away, and my husband connected it.
I cannot begin to describe the difference in cleaning ability! Part of it is probably due to the wonderful Electrasol 3 in 1 tabs it came with and I have subsequently purchased, but I know a lot of it is the dishwasher itself. I do not rinse dishes, and to test it, even put in highly caked on items and MOST, not all, of the time they come out wonderful. Also, without having the "tower" in the middle it can fit so many more dishes as well as pots and pans. I LOVE the adjustable upper rack, which goes low enough that I have sometimes even washed big pots on the top shelf! I smell no odors, I do not see any food clumps down on the bottom, and am just overall extremely pleased.
The utensil basket is bit of pain. I love the location (in the door) but it is able to be opened and closed for easy access but often does not stay shut. We cable tied it to keep it closed, and that solves the problem.
There are so many features, many of which I will probably never use but am so glad to have as an option.
I hope it lasts a long time!
