*UPDATED* Whirlpool Whispure 510 Air Purifier: Excellent

After spending hours on the internet researching different Air Purifier technologies, brands, and product specifications I finally found what I was looking for. The Whirlpool Whispure 510 Air Purifier.

When I started my research I realized that I needed to define my search based upon the needs of my family. I'm married with three children under the age of 5. No one in my family suffers from severe allergies, but my wife has chronic sinus sensitivities, headaches, and trouble reaching a deep sleep. We have two dogs and live in an area with relatively high ragweed, pollen, and dust levels. I wanted a purifier, from a reputable manufacturer, that was powerful enough to filter dust, allergens, pet dander, and odors over a large area without being overly expensive.

After researching multiple technologies I came to the conclusion that, in my opinion, a true HEPA filtration purifier with a charcoal pre-filter for odor removal was going to more adequately provide for the needs of my family, even though this would mean scheduled replacement of the charcoal pre-filter(every 3 months) and hepa filter(once a year). According to the manufacturer, "The True HEPA filter is designed to remove 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns from being pulled through the filter, including dust, pollen and smoke, which may be of concern to allergy and asthma sufferers. Run your air purifier around the clock to filter and recirculate the air in your room at the recommended 6 air charges per hour (ACH). If the unit is operated continuously as recommended, the main HEPA filter needs to be replaced only once a year."

The charcoal replacement filters as well as the HEPA replacement filters can be purchased online. Some local retailors that carry Whirlpool appliances may also carry replacement filters. I would recommend purchasing the filters from ABT Electronics, the online distributor where I purchased the unit.
A 4 pack of the charcoal pre filters costs $34.00, the Hepa filter costs $79.00, both products are in stock and come with free shipping. The filters are extremely easy to remove and replace, simply take of the front casing of the unit, remove the filters and put new filters in place.

The Whirlpool Whispure 510 covers a large area of 510 square feet, has 4 fan speeds to control the amount of air filtration intake and output, filter replacement monitors for both the charcoal and hepa filters, and runs very quiet even at high fan speeds.

The Whirlpool Whispure 510 is ENERGY STAR Qualified. ENERGY STAR is a program backed by the government that promotes superior energy efficiency.

Considering the square footage and product specifications of the Whirlpool Whispure 510, I don't believe you could find a better Air Purifier for a better price.

The first night my wife and I slept with the Whirlpool Whispure 510 in our bedroom my wife slept extremely well and woke up refreshed without sinus pain or her usual sore throat. She hasn't had the frequency or severity of sinus headaches as well. We keep the Whirlpool Whispure 510 in the living room during the day and have noticed a great improvement in air quality and a reduction of dust, odor, and pet dander. Overall I have found the Whirlpool Whispure 510 to be exactly what my family needed and at a price that made the purchase more than worthwile. Find out for yourself. Determine what you need, do the research, and you might come to the same conclusion.
