Great Drive, Greater Value

by   cornpopz ,  Jun 5, 2003
Pros: Quiet, high performance, 8MB cache
Cons: All 7200RPM drives get a little warm.
The Bottom Line: Buy this drive, it performs nicely, is quiet, and comes with a good warranty and accessory bundle.
Review: I'll start off with one word: Sweet. That's what I have to say about this drive. It's an exceptional hard drive, its cavernous space and great performance make it hard to beat. I got mine for about $70 after two rebates (from Circuit City), so they are...

Review: First thing I want to say about this drive is it is very very very quite, At night I have this drive running next to my laptop harddrive (TOSHIB 4200R 80G), I can heard the grinding of the laptop harddrive loud and clear and not even a tiny noise out of t ...

Very good deal for novice installers

by   piggdawg ,  Jul 1, 2003
Pros: Easy installation. Fast. Quiet
Cons: Some difficulty finding them in stock at some retailers.
The Bottom Line: Hard to beat for the performance to cost ratio. Easy enough for the average computer person to install yourself.

This drive is fast

by   bruno_22 ,  Nov 21, 2002
Pros: Very fast, virtually silent, good price
Cons: None so far
The Bottom Line: If you can spend an extra 20$ to get this drive, get it and don't look back. It is almost SCSI performance at EIDE price.
Review: I recently upgraded my Pc to a P4, and was looking for the best hard drive for a reasonable price. I first got the WD800JB and was pleasantly surprised by the incredible speed, but the drive made a very annoying whining noise event after spin-up, which...

Fastest EIDE hard drive series available: The WDxxxxJB series.

by   samdavidowicz ,  May 2, 2002
Pros: Fastest EIDE hard drive out there, plus is really quiet!
Cons: Overkill if you're just doing simple stuff (like Word).
The Bottom Line: I'd highly recommend this drive to anyone who uses their PC for more then just Word and internet use. Perfect for graphics apps!
Review: Western digital's "JB" series:

Western digital has been a power player in the computer storage business for many years now, and they rarely disappoint. Now, they've released "special editions" of their standard 7200RPM EIDE hard drives...

Great drive at better price - don't forget the rebates

by   mrhark ,  Jan 18, 2004
Pros: Fast and easy to install, the lifeguard tools are very helpful.
Cons: The stores run out of them fast, follow all rebate instructions
Review: I give this drive 5 stars, for easy installation, for being quiet and fast; not as much heat as others this size. WD has hit a homerun by adding the 8MB of ...

Best bang for the buck !!

by   ocwbenc ,  Oct 27, 2003
Pros: Best Value, cool Quiet
Cons: No complain by now.
Review: Unbeatable warranty!! HDD itself works pretty cool and quiet. Being using Maxtor(4) for couple year by now. But just switch to WD after Maxtor lower their warranty period to 1 year. I have always been thinking that WD is the kind of cheap HDD makers with ...

by   ivplay , top reviewer in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Jan 20, 2004
Pros: Great price/Gb from a trusted manufacturer.
Cons: May be a little light in gigs depending on what you do with your PC
The Bottom Line: This is a great priced drive with 8MB cache and the backing of the Western Digital name.
Review: Disclaimer I build computers for friends and family as well as some to sell on ebay as I find parts at a reasonable price. My own PC is a Do It Yourself (DIY) that I am constantly upgrading and adding onto. As such, I have some experience ...

Warranty !!! BEWARE !!!

by   funwear2 ,  Mar 6, 2004
Pros: fast, easy install S/W, advance warranty replacement
Cons: unreliable device, warranty replacement is USED!
Review: I also have been a long time advocate of WD HD;s. Recently, they lowered their standards, though. They used to offer standard 3 yr warranty; Now you have to purchase "premium" products or pay extra for the old standard 3-yr warranty. Thats OK ...
