Warranty !!! BEWARE !!!

Pros: fast, easy install S/W, advance warranty replacement

Cons: unreliable device, warranty replacement is USED!

I also have been a long time advocate of WD HD;s.

Recently, they lowered their standards, though.

They used to offer standard 3 yr warranty; Now you have to purchase "premium" products or pay extra for the old standard 3-yr warranty.

Thats OK though, if the product still was a reliable product.... but no ... not any more ... so sad,,,

ON 1/2/04 I purchased a WD 80Gb Cavier JB drive from Circuit City.

In less than 6 weeks, this NEW HD fails.

I utilize WD's advance RMA warranty replacemnent program.
All works well, and I get the replacement HS in 7 days.

BUT ...... !!!!
They replace the BRAND NEW HD with ."RE-CERTIFIED: (aka USED). This is not right!!!

I bought a NEW WD HD; it failed in 6 weeks. And they warranty replace with a USED DRIVE?

I am not pleased and thought you might want to know.
