Excellent Popcorn Poping
Date of Review: Jul 13, 2000
I have owned this popcorn machine since Christmas 1999 and I love it. It is better than an air popper machine and light-years better than microwave popcorn.
It is very easy to use, just pour the appropriate measurement of oil and popcorn on the popping surface, cover (add butter to the butter dish if you wish) and plug it in! A few minutes later, wala! you have great popcorn. I usually don't put butter on mine. The vegetable oil gives it a nice taste, with the addition of salt of course, but that is simply my low fat preference.
There is a nice butter dish that is on the top of the bowl (when it is popping) and allows the butter to melt and drip down on the popcorn. A really nice feature!
Due to the nature of this popcorn machine, with its very hot exposed surface, I highly recommend you do not let children use this machine. They could be easily burned. Also make sure you use it where it won't fall off a counter and burn someone or something. So it can be a safety hazard, please be careful with it.
Cleaning is somewhat of a pain but not too bad, just don't be lazy. It is worth the extra cleaning for the better quality popcorn. Make sure you use a non-abrasive cleaning tool on the popping surface, it must not be scratched or the non-stick surface will be damaged. Also be careful with the bowl, while it is sturdy, in the long term it could be warped or broken.
In conclusion this is a great popcorn machine. You will fully enjoy the superior quality of popcorn, especially if you are used to microwave. Just remember to treat it with care and safety!
