This movie spun me right 'round!
Date of Review: Jan 21, 2000
This movie takes us back in time... back to a time of good music and big hair. Yes, you guessed it. The 80's. Robbie Hart is a wedding singer (hence the title of the movie). While at a wedding, he meets caterer Julia. They hit it off, but unfortunately they are both engaged. At least in the beginning. Not too long into the movie, Robbie's fiancee Linda dumps him. She calls him a loser and moves out. Robbie is heartbroken, but not for long.
Julia asks Robbie to help her plan her wedding. He soon falls for her and starts pursuing her. When it finally seems like she is falling for him too, he blows it. But of course, like all movies, Robbie gets the girl. Julia decides to get married in Vegas instead of what she'd planned, and Robbie hops on the plane. After Billy Idol helps him get the courage, Robbie croons to Julia over the intercom. She then realizes what she's missing and falls hopelessly in love with Robbie. The end.
The movie was funny, like every other Sandler movie I have ever seen. It was also romantic. This is a side I had yet to see of Adam, and he did a great job. The Wedding Singer was full of quality acting and comedy. Whether you're looking for a good laugh, or a good cry.. try this movie. It's bound to make you do both!
