Lesser-mentioned observations.

Model reviewed: AWRCC1. There may be a few variations.
Box. This isn't just a box with some speakers. The inside of the radio contains a sounding chamber made of cast steel, complete with winding ducts and vibration dampers; the little thing weighs almost 5 kg! From the rear vent grill I can see some sizeable capacitors and significantly more electronics than most other CD/radios.
Display. The LED display dims when the volume is lowered. It's recessed a little too deep to see it when set atop, say, a bookshelf. No gimmicky visualisations or rotating colors here, only useful information is displayed.
Operation. The CD pops out immediately upon pressing the eject button. There is a built-in battery backup to save the time and settings when unplugged. Losing the razor-thin remote renders the System useless; there are no controls on the main unit.
Miscellaneous. It reads MP3s burned to CD and displays the ID3 information. Proprietary BoseLink probably sounds good--supposing I had something else with a matching connection! The 3.5mm audio jack suffices.
