Author's Review
This is the original movie of Buford Pusser, a Tennessee Sheriff who cleans up the neighborhood and then some. If you like rooting for the good guys, and seeing justice being meted out, you'll love "Walking Tall".
He's one against many, and he has to teach them all a lesson one by one.
Joe Don Baker was the first Buford Pusser on film, and in my opinion the best.
The Tennessee woods are crawling with bootleggers, and bar brawlin' nogoods and Buford is put to the test trying to end corruption in a rural area. He's got them coming out of the trees to get him, crawling from the woodwork.
Noah Berry plays his dad, and Elizabeth Hartman is his wife. All fine acting, but you get a sense that Buford and Joe Don might be one and the same. He's powerful, lovable, and very dangerous.
Lots of action, a little on the violent side too, though. So if you have a weak stomach don't watch it.
A great movie for servicemen, cops, and cowboys. Women might not agree.
But since it's a true story, it's worth watching. And you can't help but root for old Joe Don.
