Author's Review
I was given the Wahl Pro Chrome Basic Clippers which is the same model but only made of Chrome because I was growing a gottie and needed a way of trimming it easily. My electric shaver had a trimmer, but of course I couldn't get an equal trim no matter how hard I tried. Wahl definately did what it was mean't to do.
The Pros
Wahl has included a video cassette illustrating how to use the clippers properly to get the best out of it. This video offers lots of information not only on how to maintain and use the clippers but also how to perform various hair cuts.
The clippers comes with a complete set of clipping attachments. All numbered clipping lengths, the standard that most clippers use even in professional lines. This makes it easy to remember what you like done the next time you go to a hair dresser.
The clippers also have a slideable safety clipping bracket, this means you can adjust close cuts.
These clippers also come with the neccessary utilities needed to clean the clippers and it also comes with a storing case that holds the clippers and all the utilities that come with it.
The clippers are reliable. Haven't had any physical problems with them at all.
The Cons
The clippers are loud! The tone is quite annoying. If using it for a long period of time it can be quite frustrating. For most home users, this won't be such a bad thing, however if using it for more then home based use it could become a major concern.
Wahl could have provided a better system of adding oil to the blades. It tends to be a bit messy when applying because there are no holes to put the oil into, you simply apply it directly to the blades. This means that the hair being cut sticks to it and although not much, some oil can come off in your hair.
These clippers are rather heavy. They ca become awckward to hold in awckward positions. Again, this shouldn't matter too much for home based applications, but it could become more of a concern if you are using it quite often.
These clippers have the basics available, but not very much more. If it's all your looking for, it will be fine, but don't expect great things that aren't there.
The on/off switch is a little annoying, and appears very utilitarian.
In Conclusion
Don't expect wild things with these clippers. It provides basic features for cutting your hair. Great for simple uses, perfect for those who need a steady cut like cutting beards or mustaches.
For home use these are very good. However for those looking to use them to cut fairly often they can become quite annoying because of weight, sound and large size.
My final word would be although it is a good clipper, there's probably another better solution out there if you need more then basic features.
