WWF Royal Rumble is a good game, if you have a bunch of friends over who like to play wrestling games. Not to let THQ down but, put more modes in the game. If the game has only two modes of play and only two secret characters, not many people like to play it by themselves. Unless it is one of the only games they have.
The game is great when having a huge party with all your buddies. There is nothing like vegging out in front of the TV with a bunch of friends and playing a wrestling game. I know my friends love to play wrestling or fighting games. I'll admit that THQ did a good job on WWF Royal Rumble, but they needed to add more to it. It seems like they just whipped it up to make some money.
Anyway, I think the graphics are very good and that is a good thing about the game. I mean, you can see the People's Eyebrow better in this game, then in any other WWF wrestling game made by a company. The graphics make it look like you are right at the match. The wrestler's faces and outfits are nicely detailed as well. THQ must have taken a lot of time with the graphics, which is a very good thing in fighting games. Another good thing that is in WWF Royal rumble, is the flashing of the cameras when the wrestlers do their signature moves. That is just like being at a real wrestling match, all the cameras go off when the Rock or Stone Cold do their signature move.
I also like how THQ put in the most popular wrestlers and not one or two good ones, then some nobody's. In some of the other wrestling games I have played, they only had one or two good players, the rest sucked. THQ did a good job for choosing who goes in the game, but I still think they could've added a couple more good wrestlers to the game.
I think that THQ should've added a pay-per-view mode, and a player creation thing. I know a lot of my friends like to get wrestling games, because they can create their own guy. I know THQ would want a lot more people to buy the game, and I think this could've given them the edge to do it. If THQ makes another Royal Rumble, I think they should take longer, spend a little more money, and then ship it out for everyone to buy.
This was one of the best wrestling games I have seen based on graphics and game play. It doesn't rate as high in mode selection and character selection though. Other then that, this game is good for playing with friends, but I wouldn't recommend single player.
