Tried for over three hours and many attempts and re-attempts but could not get this repeater set up. Before each re-attempt, I reset the unit and started over. Each effort failed and although the unit's lights indicated complete set up, it prevented all my computers from accessing my signal. My router is also made by Linksys and it was necessary to go to the router's site in this process.
Finally went to the Linksys site and began working with a phone Rep. Herein lies another problem. The Rep advised that he would not phone me in case we got disconnected. He gave me a case number to use when checking back with them--if it became necessary. After trying a number of configurations, this Rep could not get the unit set up. Sure enough, we got disconnected.
I phoned Linksys using the phone number provided and after another long wait, gave up on this. Then, I did get, again, connected on their web site, with a different Rep who pulled up my case number and proceeded to configure. Again, these efforts failed. I was turned over to another Rep whose efforts also failed. Finally, a supervisor took over and after going through the same processes as before--the same ones I had done on my on, the set up could not be completed---for reasons stated by the supervisor as being "unknown". This process took well over three hours.
The supervisor suggested I print the e-mail she would send and take it back to Best buy for a refund and provide the folks there with the proof that attempts had been made through Linksys Reps and failed.
In summary ,there were several serious problems: The instructions for the unit do not provide enough information. The web-based sites do not provide enough information. The Linksys Reps refuse to agree to phone in case of disconnect. The wait time is quite lengthy, and the chat process is very slow. I had to place my laptop next to my on-line computer and use both while working with the Rep. It almost seemed that the Reps and the supervisor had to read instructions before each statement was made in the chat session. I must state though that the Reps were most courtesy and friendly and seemed to really try to assist.
I can not recommend the unit or the Customer Service process at Linksys. I would refer to their service as being Customer-no-service.
